Advice for Employees

We believe that it is important that our solicitors deal with employment cases on both sides and our team has experience of acting for both employers and employees. We can provide advice and assistance to individual clients on all aspects of employment law including unfair dismissal, redundancy, equal pay, discrimination and breaches of contract. We also deal with a large number of compromise agreements.

We have the only specialist and dedicated employment department in South Cumbria. We can see clients at any of our two offices in Ulverston or Dalton but can also visit clients at their home addresses for no additional charge.

We strive to offer a competitively priced service and, depending on client requirements, can provide different levels of service, from general “background” advice to advice and assistance with preparing a claim through to a full service including representation at Employment Tribunals or in the County Court.

In some cases, we may be able to offer conditional fee arrangements, whereby we calculate our fees as a fixed share of any compensation or settlement that a client is awarded (meaning that if the client gets nothing, we will normally get nothing too).

Coronavirus

Our employment team has received a huge number of requests for help from companies who are unsure how to interpret Government guidance and how best to deal with their employees at this difficult time. 

We are producing regular factsheets for our employees which explain the latest Government guidance.  Our factsheets also sets out practical advice on issues such as furloughing (the new procedures by which employees can remain at home but employers can claim a grant to cover their wages), re-negotiation of contracts and sick pay.
