  1. Why we need to process your data

We need to process your personal data in order to fulfil our contractual obligations to you.  This might, for example, include obtaining information so that we can agree service levels with you and will almost certainly include gathering information which we need in order to properly advise you on your legal rights and to assist you in your matter.

Because of the nature of your claim, we also need to process special category data.  Special category data is personal data which is regarded as particularly sensitive.  It includes things like ethnic origin, religion, social orientation and trade union membership.  Where are we processing special category data, we need to show that one or more additional criteria apply.  One of these is that the processing of data is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims and the special category data which we hold about you will be used for these purposes.

We will not use any information gathered from you for any other purpose other than to satisfy the terms of our client retainer with you.
