Livingstons solicitors is a long-established local firm whose aim is to provide a friendly and efficient service to all its clients at reasonable cost. We can provide comprehensive legal advice to individuals and businesses and our specialist departments enable us to offer a top quality service with a high degree of expertise.
Livingstons offer an initial free half hour consultation for all employment, personal injury, family, wills and probate matters at which time an initial view can be taken as to the merits or issues in your case.
Livingstons also hold a Legal Aid Franchise for Family and Employment matters.
On this web site you will find some information about the services we offer, new developments and the people who can help you.
We are pleased to announce that Livingstons have been awarded both the Lexcel and Investor in People Awards. Both these awards were gained at the first attempt.
In 2006 the firm opened a new 'legal store' in the heart of Barrow town centre. The new office marks a further expansion for Livingstons and the number of jobs in the practice has more than doubled. The fact that the firm is now putting further resources into Barrow is evidence of its confidence in a bright future for the town, especially in the light of the proposed Waterfront and Docklands development which includes the Marina village and Quays.
The office is situated to the side of Marks and Spencer in Buccleuch Street, Barrow in Furness. The interior has been fully refurbished with comfortable seating and a play area for children. Parking is easy, having a large car park to the side of the building.
Due to further expansion of our Employment department we have recently recruited a new fee-earner to complement our expanding business.
- Jenny Nuttall joined us in October last year from a local firm of solicitors. Jenny will be based in our Ulverston office dealing with all aspects of employment law.
The New Law - Lasting Powers of Attorney
Livingstons can help clients make provision for their old age by preparing documentation which allows them to appoint others (often their children) to manage their affairs should they no longer be able to do so personally. Traditionally, this has been done by means of an Enduring Power of Attorney. However, from October 1st 2007 it will no longer be possible to create an EPA although EPAs made before this date will remain valid.
For more information on Lasting Powers of Attorney contact Simon Hollis on 01229 585555.
Home Information Packs
Livingstons are able to provide you with a cost effective Home Information Pack (HIP) to help you with the sale of your property. From September 10th 2007, all homes for sale with three or more bedrooms in England and Wales will need a HIP with details of the property title, energy performance, searches and other prescribed documents
Anyone selling such a property after this date will have to provide a Hip to any potential buyer. As the Hip is a legal document, Livingstons have the expertise to provide clients old and new with a professional, efficient and accurate service. Contact our conveyancing team on 01229 585555 for a free no obligation quote.
Are You Aware Of The New Tenancy Deposit Law?
As a landlord or a letting agent, from April 6th 2007 you must protect all new tenancy deposits in a Government authorised scheme. If you fail to protect it you could end up paying the tenant three times the deposit.
For further information regarding this new law contact Livingstons on 01229 585555.
