We have been keeping a close eye on the spread of Coronavirus in the UK and on the Government response to the virus.
Although it very much remains our intention to carry on at the current time, we have made a number of changes to the way in which we deliver our services in order to protect our employees, our clients and other visitors to our offices.
With effect from Monday, 23rd March, we will be running our offices with reduced staff. Many of our employees will start working from home.
Save in exceptional circumstances or where there is no alternative, we will not routinely be able to offer face to face client appointments at either Ulverston or Dalton. We will, however, be able to offer telephone appointments or Skype meetings.
All of our home-working employees will continue to have access to telephone and e-mail, although in some cases clients might be asked to call fee earners direct on their mobiles rather than using the firm’s switchboard. It will still be possible to drop off documents at our Ulverston and Dalton offices, but we will be seeking to limit access to our offices save by prior arrangement.
We will have designated interview rooms at our Ulverston and Dalton offices. We will ask those who have prearranged appointments to visit our offices to use hand sanitiser on arrival and the tables and door handles in the interview rooms will be wiped down after each client visit. Our staff have been asked to observe social distancing, meaning that they have been asked not to shake hands and to avoid close contact with other people (ideally keeping two metres apart at all times).
At the time of issuing this statement, none of our employees are believed to have contracted Coronavirus. We hope that it remains this way, but even if it does, we understand that implementing these new arrangements will inevitably cause some disruption. However, we are confident that our clients will fully understand why we need to take these steps to keep everyone as safe as we can and we ask that you bear with us at this difficult time.
In the event that we are obliged to close our offices entirely, we will issue a further statement.
So far as is possible, we remain committed to continuing to offer our services to existing and new clients alike and although we are now obliged to change the way in which we do that, otherwise it is business as usual.
